Let me just start off by saying that I hate football, but somehow I cannot get enough of these sappy, inspirational football movies.

On any Given Sunday is one of my favorite movies, and I could watch it over and over. Why?

Because coaching football is not much different than coaching greatness.

And that’s what I’m in the business of. Well, I did not realize that until this past week.

I got to share space with a legend.

At least for me. I may seriously reach out to him to be my mentor. I could not get enough of his wisdom, and would keep going

back and forth to ask him more and more questions.

This 70-something year-old Sage has coached 81 young quarterbacks into Division 1 teams. Now,

I don’t know a whole lot about football, but I do know that’s a big friggen deal.

And so, I realized that every word this man said about coaching was GOLD, and I paid attention. I hope you will too…

Success is a 3-legged table. Take one out, and the formula will not work: physical, mental & spiritual.
It is all about making them great. Not about making you big. (holy cow- lightning bolt of truth right at me)
Always be 100% accountable. Teach that.
Have REVERANCE for the person in front of you. Teach that too.
The only way that a student will allow you to influence them, is if they TRUST YOU. trust is first.

The KEY is to get out of your own way, and let them be great; you will never have to worry another day in your life.

When I first was given the Sacred Chalice Principles, and I read “Connect to a Sisterhood; it will strengthen you, “ I will be honest, I think I might have cried once I realized that I did not have that in my life.

It broke my heart to think that I didn’t have a community of girlfriends who had my back, and who were not only vested in the occasional venting, but who were committed to elevating one another to fulfill our purpose in life.

I realized that I HAD TO CREATE COMMUNITY. It was not going to come to me, and it was not going to appear out of thin air. I had to be deliberate, and yes, put myself out there with friends I felt drawn to. Some coffee/ tea dates went well, others were awkward at best. But I kept going in this desire.

As a family we decided to make a move to the country, far away from our current friends and our comfort zone, but we felt moved and 100% jazzed to take the plunge. We moved, and two months later, best of friends turned out to be our across the street neighbors.

I now run with her. And actually, it was on a run we did this past weekend, when I realized how much I appreciated her, and how EASY she made the whole thing. She did a few helpful things, but mostly, it was that we were in community, supporting one another; that made the difference.

We don’t see eye to eye on everything. That’s not important. What is important is that she keeps me connected to wanting to be the best mother possible. I open her mind; at least I think I do! Haha!

Another community-based game changer was meeting Sue B Zimmerman this past weekend (yeah, it was kinda rockin’ weekend!) I knew when I met her that she was my cup of tea. She was for sure going to elevate my business and my reach. By now you probably know that I am on a mission to empower women to access their delicious positively amazing energy and help them ground it all into a life that is filled with passion, purpose, a yummy plan, and profits.

I have had mentors for more than a decade, and I always invest my time, energy and wealth in myself. Most mommies, don’t, I get it, but those who do, oh boy, they are ready to soar! Any who, there was a time in my life when I was transitioning businesses, and I made excuses, and allowed cash to be my stumbling block in the investment. Those were the toughest two years of my life.

I made progress, sure, but it was long, windy, and the confusion made me (and my family & friends) crazy. I know that had I had a mentor, I would have had that neutral place of perspective and reason, to elicit the answers that my mind was just way too clogged up to verbalize.

So, delicious one, if you want to create SOMETHING in your life, I invite you, no wait, I urge you to create community around it; A must really. Many people say they are on a good path. That’s not good enough for me. Maybe for you it is, I want to be on the Divine Path… the path connected to my soul, with masters who elevate me, and surrounded by love & magic.

I do love me some magic. I don’t want to live an ordinary life, nor do I want to live by somebody else’s standards. I do not want to drown my stress in a glass of wine (although I do like my occasional cider), and I certainly do not want to be confused or meandering through life.

I like a life that is clear, direct, and on purpose, and that has a ton of room for fricken FUN!!! I am vested in this for my girls, and because I know all women deserve this.

Stay Calm & Practice Self-Care

If you have read the news or watch late night shows, you have seen her face: Ms Success through Self-Care Advocate, Arianna Huffington has been promoting her book Thrive, where she promotes the concept of rest, meditation, and overall self-care for the success of any woman in leadership positions. And if it’s an essential for her, then most women ought to listen.

It’s is very easy to let yourself go. If you are a woman, you get how easy our society and our families make it for us to give ourselves completely to others. This leads to burn out (at home & at work) and it also leaves to lack of fulfillment. When women are not given space to nurture their spirit, everyone loses.

I’ve had those days, believe me. We all have. But the secret to busy, full lives is to incorporate at least five minutes of a practice that helps you connect to your soul, chill, and decompress.

One of the obstacles to practicing self-care is not really knowing what nurtures you. Sounds silly, but it is true. Usually it takes some prodding to get women to uncover what helps them feel rejuvenated on a weekly basis.

So, here’s a few go-to’s for me & my clients that will ensure you are THRIVING in life & work.

Meditation. Yes, I know, total clique. If you don’t think you have what it takes to quiet your mind & relax, no worries. Here’s 2 simple ways to get the same effect.

Yin Self Exercise: Set a 2-minute timer, close your eyes, cover your eyes with your hands, make it as dark as possible, and focus on the darkest spots in your “inner vision”. Do this until the timer goes off, and puff, you have been rejuvenated. Try it now! It totally works.
Candle viewing: At night before going to bed: light a candle, set a 2 minute timer, and softly gaze at the candle. Notice what is around the candle, the flame, and notice how your breathing slows, and your shoulders drop from this simple technique.

Block out Creative time. Yep, you heard me. If this feels totally unproductive, try it anyway, and then tell me how amazing you feel afterwards. The beauty of tapping into that creative, boundless part of your brain, is that you create new neural pathways that by-pass old patterns & unlock new ways of doing things. Creativity is such a source of passion for so many people, and if you are in your passion, you will relax & hence thrive. Creative time can include:

Painting (even if just with your kids crayons). One of my clients uses mandala coloring books, and finds it so relaxing to just do for a few minutes while she’s on hold on the phone.

Doodling. Try this even while you are sitting in boring meetings. Or just when you have a few minutes. Doodling frees your mind!

Gardening: I love this one! This allows you to connect to nature, and be creative as you design your outside space, or care for plants that will render fruits or veggies.

Dance! Yes, dance for the love of your precious body. Movement can be such a powerful creative expression. And if you are too shy to go to a class, send everyone out of the house, put on your favorite music, and move as wildly as you want. Nobody is watching, so enjoy letting go & see how ALIVE you feel.
