{This is a Feel Good Post}
I left my family on Labor Day weekend to surprise one of my dearest friends for her birthday. This was supposed to be a weekend to celebrate her, her brilliance, and for me, it was supposed to be a weekend where I celebrate how much I adore her.
People arrived for the surprise party one by one, and her face lit up as is loved one entered her home. There was a toast, a meal that I am still salivating over, but truth be told, as Entrepreneurs, we cannot stop obsessing about our craft.
The room grew still as a vibrant woman talked about the multiple books she had written, but then admitted she is bartending to pay the bills. Our faces froze. Mind you, this room had at least three business consultants/ coaches, and we all went into work mode.
Not skipping a beat, we waited for our chance to pounce on this beautiful soul and following some unwritten rule in the air, we did not let her leave until she felt grounded in her next steps to ensuring her vocation be given the proper place on the planet. Clearly, she had much to offer, and we could not, and would not let her slip into the shadows.
That is what passion is.
Those of us who are passionate cannot help ourselves. We want to eat, breathe, speak our passion. The world has a little bit of a hard time with us. We are “too much”, “too happy”, “too eager”.
And they may be right, but we cannot imagine being less enthusiastic. So we don’t stop.
There’s a flip side to this, though. We probably work too much. Our partners do not exactly get it. Our friends think we are off-balance. But the truth is that, doing work is life affirming, and life-sustaining. We love what we do, we would do it in our sleep if we could (and we probably do, especially those of us more on the woo woo side!)
The truth is that busy Entrepreneurs need a break to thrive.
We struggle with delegating and outsourcing, or justifying paying for it. We are take-charge kind of people, and that sometimes errs on the side of thinking we have to do it all ourselves. Our big heart sometimes gets confused, and we under charge. We have so much going on, which is exactly why more people come to us, because they KNOW we will get things done, and so more gets put on our plate.
We love it. We thrive in it. Until we hit a wall. We need a vacation, a break of sorts.
A Retreat.
This is exactly why I retreat and lead retreats. I know women like me need a place to be nurtured, to receive the clarity directly from the soul, and to put the action steps into place. I am preparing for the Wellness Fall Retreat this weekend, and I would love to bring you along.
I know you cannot be there. But I welcome your sweet Spirit to join us as we go inward and come out with clarity for ourselves + our businesses in 2016. I invite you to take the next couple of days and create a retreat of your own. Maybe it’s turning the phone off for a couple of hours, allowing yourself a hot bath without interruption, or even going for a walk by yourself. Any act of retreat counts.
When was the last time you went on a retreat? Is there a part of you that craves it? Let’s stay connected because I have a feeling we may be able to help!
Love,
Asha
