{This is a Feel Good Post}
Are you very creative? Do you struggle with being productive?
You are not alone. I know many creative people who enter into these crazy waves of creativity and find themselves not being able to stop to even eat! haha! For those of us who get lost in the romance of being intertwined with our creative juices, it can feel like an addictive love affair. Ok, maybe I’m taking it too far, but you know what I mean…
Being creative means that you have a precious gift of genius within you. You have access to a portal of the most unique, concentrated and delectable mix of goodness, only you can offer. Others can copy, but nobody can deny the stroke of genius that you create.
And you cannot be ON command at all times. It’s nearly impossible. You need breaks. You need space.
The problem is, most people don’t understand. Most people want you to be a little production machine, and may even think you are lazy.
So, what is a creative genius to do? How can a creative person be productive?
Three things: 1. Know your creative waves. 2. Inform people of your creative cycles. 3. Be nice to yourself.
And a fourth thing: 4. You have to decide that you will take care of yourself. Financially and Energetically.
If you are so blinded by the lure of being creative that you forget to pay the bills or care for your dog, it is time, you bring on a sense of good ol’ work ethic. I have no judgment here. This is not to make you feel bad at all, but to remind you that you can be creative and fully grounded too. The more compassion you bring to your creative cycles and to who you are, the more you can teach others to respect you, and work with your way.
I do believe we can have our cake and eat it too, but sometimes we just have to wait until after we eat dinner to have dessert. That’s all.
If this pep talk helped you, let me know! I love to hear form you.
Love,
ASHA
